Have you been jailed because
you couldn't afford bail?

Tell us your story hereThe ACLU of Nebraska is collecting stories from people who were held in jail because they could not afford money bail. This is part of our ongoing effort to research unfair and unconstitutional fines and fees being charged without judges asking whether a person can afford to pay them. Keeping presumed innocent people in jail pulls them out of their lives, keeps them from their families and disrupts their employment and housing.

Legal and policy research only tell us part of the story. That's why we need to hear from you!

If you have been affected by an inability to pay bail, please tell us about your experience. Your story can help influence bail reform efforts and make a positive difference for many Nebraskans. We may follow up with you for more information.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact ACLU Communications Director Heidi Uhing at huhing@aclunebraska.org or 402-476-8091 ext. 104.
